Pet Sounds Entry
Certainly, the surfer dude image took over the 60's and early 70's and The Beach Boys were the ones who started this fad. Their album pet sounds is without a doubt one of the most timeless albums ever written the beach boys harmonies' always made the listener tingle the second they heard it. This album defined paradise to many and inspired so many great musicians we love today it really has us saying "Wouldnt it be nice" every day.
Revolver Entry
Every song on the album Revolver by The Beatles is unforgettable, Each written with so much care and it really stands out. One can instantly be hooked after one listen, John Lennon's captavating lyrics inspire ones self so quickly and easily its as if he was born to do so. I personally think this is The Beatles best album, the authenticity of this album is incredible its as if they wanted you to feel that you were in the studio with them. The mix of Rock n' Roll and Pop is perfect, it has the soothing melodies as well as the thrashing guitar and punchy drums. My personal favorite track on this album is Eleanor Rigby. The stories they tell and the way the sing is like nothing i have ever heard, it is a true inspiration. I believe the image The Beatles were going for from this album wasn't thought of much compared to the compostion of the album, they kind of maintained the same image throughout their career, that rock personna but the phsycadelic vibe from the attitude and music. "I'm only sleeping" is the perfect example of a non musical interest that inspired a song, John speaks of laying in bed waiting to fall asleep and eventually doing so and enjoying his dream he sings these words behind a beautiful chord progression and melodic bass line played by Paul. The Beatles have some of the most unique recording techniques i have ever seen or heard, such as using a bass cabinet speaker to record pauls bass, swinging John Lennon around a microphone to get a rotating sound and unbelievable useage of reverb chambers. What really amazes me about revolver is the ridiculous amount of instrumentation usually it would seem like too much but they use it so subtley it is so creative it is amazing. Also, they use a reverse effect on many instruments and vocals in many songs which must have been amazing at the time of this record coming out it creates some of the most original sounds i have ever heard. The over all production and mix of this album is amazing it sounds so real and true you just dont get that anymore. Without a doubt, Revolver has a huge impact on the music industry many producers model their teqneiques after what was done on this album and it really made the industry what it is today. I referenced the Album Revolver by The Beatles and the song " I'm Only Sleeping" written by John Lennon as well as the Revolver documentary found on the website we were givin.
